Legislation requires that planning applications include an assessment of the ecological impact of proposed developments. This includes all projects from barn conversions to housing developments.
As case law develops Local Planning Authorities are becoming more and more rigorous in their requirements.
It is essential that ecological assessments are carried out early in the preplanning process to avoid costly delays or even criminal offences during construction. Many surveys are time critical and are only valid if carried out during the appropriate season. Our survey calendar acts as a guide as to when surveys can be carried out and our trigger list gives an indication of when surveys may be required.
